Under Sec Cohen opened the meeting with a well-crafted statement of the importance of this meeting for the Dept. of Treasury, the Dept. of Justice, OCC, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and other US regulators. The intention, was established from the beginning: it was an effort of regulators to to understand the Bank Discontinuance problem that MSBs are facing but also a way to explain what is the US regulator’s procedures, agenda and position with regards to MSBs.
