The Global Forum on Remittances and Development 2015 (GFRD2015) hosted by IFAD’s Financing Facility for Remittances is on the way today, Tuesday, June 16 in Milano, Italy at the Stella Polare Convention Centre, another of the activities of the year long Universal Exposition EXPO2015: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. IMTC is present at the Forum with a stand where Laura Marcela Quiceno and myself, Hugo Cuevas-Mohr will be welcoming colleagues, past conference speakers, sponsors and friends. The 3 day event starts with the PUBLIC SECTOR DAY and the first celebration of the International Day of Family Remittances. Wednesday is PRIVATE SECTOR DAY and Thursday is CIVIL SOCIETY DAY.

The GFRD2015 is a free development related event, where remittances are discussed in that context. It has been done before, in Bangkok, Thailand in 2013 and in Tunis, Tunisia before that. Every time IFAD has made a larger effort to attract the private sector, that included mostly banks, but in this one the MT Industry will be well represented. Close to 450 attendees are expected, from 72 countries, 45% from the private sector, 29% from the Public Sector, 18% from the Civil Society (NGOs) and 6% from the Academic Sector.

Faisal Khan, a Banking, Payments & Fintech Consultant in Dubai has compiled an impressive list of everything related to Money Transfers.

Faisal has collected graphically, in a Periodic Table of Remittances, an impressive list of around 160 items. He has divided his list in categories such as Comparison Sites, Influential Regulators, Platforms, Emerging Players, Incumbent Players, Payment Networks, Niche Players, Data Sources, People, Software, Airtime Transfers, Conferences, Forums, Blogs and Bitcoin based Money Transfer/ Remittances. In People, Faisal humbly avoided including his name, so I did include him; that’s the only difference in the list Faisal gave me permission to publish in our blog. Some of you are missing! If you are not listed contact Faisal through his blog or contact us.
