
Ricardo Amaral, President of the two Western Union legal entities in Brazil (Corretora de Câmbio and Banco WU), which have money transfer and foreign exchange products in their portfolio. He is also responsible for accelerating the expansion of Western Union’s multi-channel strategy, linking the physical and digital worlds.
In his previous position, Ricardo Amaral was General Manager and Director of the West LACA region (Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Paraguay) managing all operations and commercial relations, with the Agents, since July 2017. Previously, he served as General Manager for the operations Panama, driving business growth through important trade agreements. He also served as Director for other countries: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Venezuela. With regard to Cuba, Amaral supervised the project that allowed economic opening, to more than 35 countries, to send money to the island.
Amaral started his marketing career and worked at the offices of Western Union do Brasil, Argentina and Panama. He has also worked for other companies such as General Electric (Healthcare) and Danone (Consumer Goods).
With extensive international experience, Amaral holds a “Cum Laude” degree and an MBA from IAE Business School in Argentina and from UCLA Anderson School of Management in the USA, in addition to his graduation from FGV in Brazil and from Corvinus University in Hungary. Throughout his professional career, Amaral has specialized in international financial services, management of major agents and business development.
Amaral has a deep knowledge of the Latin American and Caribbean markets, having worked with most countries in the region. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil.
